waterless washing machine

Two Industrial Design students from the National Univeristy of Singapore (NUS) are the first Asians to win the Design Lab Award at the international Electrolux Design Lab 2005 competition! Their product? A waterfall-inspired washing unit that require neither water nor detergents. Now, if only Malaysians could come up with the biggest odourless durian peeler or something like that...

king kong's amazing sfx

I'm sure y'all seen all the trailers for Peter Jackson's King Kong, and it looks reaaaaall kickass, but what I find more amazing than the awesome sfx is the amazing real life weight Peter Jackson seems to have lost... check him out in this Kong 'look inside' featurette

gorillaz live!

Early this month, members of the ‘animated’ band, Gorillaz, performed live, in 3D, on stage. Their animation was projected up onto the stage for the performance using technology with literally, ‘smoke and mirrors’.

Cara Speller, who produced the performance as part of the Gorillaz live extravaganza at the London animation studio Passion Pictures, is quoted as saying the technique is a 21st Century version of Pepper’s Ghost.

Reportedly, the Gorillaz management has had detailed discussions with ILM, to develop the technology further for use on a world tour in 2007.
