hubert duprat x trichoptera

Very intriguing art... these jewelry encrusted cases are made from a collaboration between artist Hubert Duprat and Caddis Fly Larvae...

After collecting the larvae from their normal environments, Hubert Duprat relocates them to his studio where he gently removes their own natural cases and then places them in aquaria that he fills with alternative materials from which they can begin to recreate their protective sheaths. He began with only gold spangles but has since also added the kinds of semi-precious and precious stones (including turquoise, opals, lapis lazuli and coral, as well as pearls, rubies, sapphires, and diamonds) seen here.

This is a bit of a useless post actually... unless (a) you can travel back in time, (b) you were there at the time of this event or (c) you speak french... but anyways...

Imagine this... Miyazaki (of Tottoro, Princess Mononoke, Nausicaä) and Moebius (of Incal, Aliens, Dune, Fifth Element, Arzach)... together... TOGETHER!... in an exhibition... every otaku/comic geeks wet dream come true right?...

Yeah, except it happened 3 years ago... in... Paris...

So why am I posting this?... because I just found out about it, and I wasn't in Paris, in the Hôtel de la Monnaie, on December 2004, and life sucks...
