gorillaz live!

Early this month, members of the ‘animated’ band, Gorillaz, performed live, in 3D, on stage. Their animation was projected up onto the stage for the performance using technology with literally, ‘smoke and mirrors’.

Cara Speller, who produced the performance as part of the Gorillaz live extravaganza at the London animation studio Passion Pictures, is quoted as saying the technique is a 21st Century version of Pepper’s Ghost.

Reportedly, the Gorillaz management has had detailed discussions with ILM, to develop the technology further for use on a world tour in 2007.
