goemon

Kazuaki Kiriya does it again... Goemon is the latest from the director of Casshern... apparently done under a budget of 1 million, it's just amazing what they manage to do... checkout the trailer, it looks simply awesome... he seems to have pioneered this style of hyper detailed japanese baroque look in film... from the settings, costumes, CG to the cinematography... if you've seen his previous stuff like the music videos he's done for Utada Hikaru (who is his wife by the way) then you'll know what I'm talking about...

jamie livingston - a photo everyday, for 18 years

This kinda blew my mind... Jamie Livingston took a photo every day for eighteen years, one per day, from March 31, 1979 through October 25, 1997 until the day he died, using a Polaroid SX-70 camera. The photos were intriguing to me not only because they served to document his life... but the changing times and environment around him... they got especially haunting especially towards the end of his life where he got diagnosed with cancer... the last shot that was taken of him alive was incredibly moving for me...

He called the project “Photo of the Day” and presumably planned to collect them at some point — had he lived. He died on October 25, 1997 — his 41st birthday. Here's how I discovered it via the Mentalfloss blog...

Or have a look at the website itself...
